What Lisa Diggs has pulled off with the Buy Michigan Now Festival is nothing short of amazing. Her belief that one person can make a difference especially by enrolling another to take action inspires me to no end. She is incredible and this is an incredible event for our state. I sure hope you will load up the family, head to Northville next weekend and be reminded of all the greatness our state has to offer.

The 2nd Annual Buy Michigan Now Festival in downtown Northville August 6th - 8th is rapidly approaching, and unlike a lot of other events, every vendor, merchant, sponsor, and performer is Michigan-based so this is truly a fest with a cause. In addition to street vendors, sidewalk sales, food & entertainment throughout, here are just a few of the highlights so choose your favs and mark your calendar:

Friday August 6th includes a free Health Fair presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan from 10AM - 5PM where you can get your blood pressure, hearing, eyes, and spinal alignment screened at no cost. You can learn about nutrition and fitness, quitting smoking, cooking healthy or even try out a yoga class. Throughout the day, kick back with great music and food, or bring the kids for a magic show and a chance to meet Paws, the official Tiger mascot. The evening includes a gallery walk and cool concert. On Saturday, there will be an old fashioned Barter Faire. Drop some items off in exchange for trade dollars and then go enjoy the festival. When you return, use your trade dollars to purchase someone else's old treasures. It's a gigantic garage sale where you don't have to spend any money. Meet Channel 4's Paula Tutman and Paul Gross as they talk about their other passion as Michigan authors. The music on Saturday is sublime too with acts like Main Street Soul, Nadir, and Avienne. Sunday is all about style. To support the campaign you can purchase $25 VIP tickets for a fashion event which includes a private party with complimentary apps & Michigan wines hosted by TV personality Suzanne Sena, hear the behind the scenes scoop from Project Runway alum designer Joe Faris, and get a front row seat for a Katerina Bocci fashion show.
