Hello and Welcome to another great week in January 2010 starting with Martin Luther King Jr Day and one of my favorites of his many great quotes:

"The time is always right to do what is right" - MLK jr

I'm dropping by reminding you of some great upcoming events, groups to join, and charities to be apart of all throughout Metro Detroit making a positive change in not only your business but, the world around you:

Polar Plunge in Detroit:

Take the Plunge for Special Olympics of Michigan - The Special Olympics has been a huge part of my life - my entire life. My brother has been an athlete with the S.O. ever since I can remember and now dating Gina for the last 2 years, her brother Anthony is and has been as well! It is an amazing organization and all the money raised from this event supports the year-round sports training and competition for Special Olympics Michigan. To participate: Entry fee is a $50 donation to Special Olympics Michigan. Pre-register by Feb. 22. Go to: http://www.somi.org or fax pre-registration form to (989) 774-3034 - Bring the registration form and collected pledges to the event. Plunge attire: Anything but a wet suit. Shoes required. (Remember, there is a costume contest. The winner takes home the Golden Plunger Award.)

Support your local Boys & Girls Club:    The kids, families, and staff of the Boys & Girls Club need your support now more than ever with a loss of over 65% funding from the United Way & Chrysler's annual donation of $35,000 gone forever! Using old and outdated supplies, over used sports equipment, and obsolete computers for their homework and games everyday. I've attached a 'Wish List' from the Boys & Girls Club for 2010 directly from the club's director, Mike Brown. As a child growing up in the Boys & Girls Club keeping me out of harms way of the neighborhood I grew up in - My heart is here with these kids and I hope a little piece of yours can be to - To learn more about all that is the Boys & Girls Club - Check out http://www.bgcsm.org

Steak & Burger Dinner Fundraiser Event: Last Year's event as a huge success with Keynote Speaker: Jim Brandstatter and some great sponsors throughout Metro Detroit from the Palace of Auburn Hills to local engineering firms to local Real Estate companies! This year we are hoping to make it an even better all around even, raising needed funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs through sponsorships, table and seat purchases, and donation. This is a great way to mingle, network, and meet some big names throughout Metro Detroit making a positive change in our children's lives. Let me know if you'd be interested in being apart of this great event in April.  To learn more about all that is the Boys & Girls Club - Check out http://www.bgcsm.org

Create Your Team for Relay for Life 2010: You, me, everyone we know has been affected in someway by cancer. I personally have lost my father, grandfather, and about to lose my grandmother all to cancer. My other grandmother is a survivor and I have plenty of friends who are strong survivors and currently have 2 close friends battling the horrible disease right now... I have joined forces with The American Cancer Society to help make a change. On June 5th is our Relay for Life in Auburn Hills and we are trying to create teams to come out and have a blast for the day and night. The Relay is an all day event / festival - Check it out at http://www.relayforlife.org

WCR - A Positive Place for Education & Networking If you are currently not a member of WCR (Women's Council of Realtors) I highly recommend that you become one soon! I was apprehensive at first about joining with well... not being a woman... but once I visited a few chapters and noticed that there are not only plenty of male members but, plenty of benefits in being a member from the education to the great networking and all for only $115. for your first chapter and $10. each additional chapter! I joined 3 chapters (Rochester, North Oakland, and Birmingham/Bloomfield) for $135. & now attend monthly meetings, seminars, lunches, etc and have made some amazing contacts since joining I never thought possible as well as sponsoring events and luncheons. If you are interested in joining one of the local chapters check out: http://www.wcrrochester.com, http://www.wcrnorthoakland.com, http://www.wcrbirminghambloomfield.com
