Description
The 2009 Miles for Medals is a charity event to support Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI) athletes. SOMI offers year-round athletic training and competitions in 23 different sports. All programs and services are provided at no cost to the athletes or their families.
Miles for Medals brings people together to walk, run or bicycle with the common goal of supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities in developing physical fitness, demonstrating courage and experiencing joy and friendship with their families and other Special Olympics athletes. Together, we can and do change lives.
Oakland Macomb's Miles for Medals includes a 1 Mile Walk, 5K & 10K Run as well as a 5K and 10K Fun Cycle.
To Participate:
1. Solicit contributions online or offline. $25 minimum donation to Special Olympics Michigan to particpate. Teams/Families of four minimum donation.
2. Pre-register online at www.somi.org.
3. Encourage friends and families to walk/run/cycle with you!
4. WE NEED SPONSORS FOR THIS EVENT!
5. WE NEED RUNNERS FOR THIS EVENT!
6. WE NEED TROPHIES & PLAQUES FOR THE ATHLETES / PARTICIPANTS FOR THIS EVENT!
