FARMERS MARKETS
Has everyone been checking out the farmers markets? Wayne State just started theirs and it is great. They have a little of everything plus free parking right in front of the vendors. I was really impressed. It is rright across from the Detroit Library on Cass Ave.
Farmers Markets are popping up everywhere. We go to Canton (Sunday 10-2), Wayne State (Wednesday 10-3), Henry Ford Hospital is having several at different locations this summer, East Lansing (Sunday 10-3), Zingerman's Road House (Thursday 2-7) some of them are through Select Michigan and others are through Local Farmering Programs. Detroit has several community gardens and they feature those items at the markets.
You would be suprised what you find at farmers markets. Eggs that come from chickens that are allowed to go around and eat from the farm itself not kept in small pens, (by the way I resently read that this type of egg contains every nutrient known to man except vitamin C).
New types of produce that Michigan Farmers are trying out to make our state even more competetive.
And over course great bakery items the Bizzy Lizzy Line of Gourmet Cookies, Zingerman's Bread and much more.
