Can you believe how close we are to August? Umm, Summer…where are you going?

Starting next Monday, things will be back to normal in MCC Land. Did I just hear a 3742 person sigh of relief? Believe me, I understand. I too am looking forward to getting “back to business”. This community development thing is needed, but can be tiresome.

I will tell you it hasn’t gone unnoticed. In fact, I got to watch Renee Howarth receive an award today. It was a very special moment in time. She received the “President’s Volunteer Service Award” for her efforts with Blood, Sweat and Gear. She got herself a fancy hand signed letter from the President himself. Please take a moment to congratulate her. That is really, really COOL. Kudos to Lisa Diggs, founder of Buy Michigan Now for receiving one as well. Thanks to Menachem Kniespeck of Operation Kid Equip for bestowing this wonderful honor on us.

Speakers and Locations-

I know I have made this request before, but it seems as though it has gotten lost in the shuffle. Starting in September (and hopefully sooner) we want to begin hosting the majority of our meetings in the a.m. or late afternoon at member’s offices. On the off chance you don’t have an office and still want to host a meeting, pick a place and let us know. We would like to stay in the same geographies we are in currently, but move away from the restaurant thing (for the most part). When we do this, we will lower the cost per meeting significantly.

We are also looking for speakers. So far Kimberly Kassner and I have shared some of our expertise at meetings. Both have been well received. If you are a speaker and have significant expertise that others should know about, let us know. We would love to have you on the bill.

Simply reply to this discussion and let us know if you want to host (include the location) or speak. We would love to hear from you.

The Blood

The first day of Blood, Sweat & Gear is in the books! We had a pretty good showing in Northville and gathered over 25 pints of blood…that saves 75 lives. WAY TO GO MCC!!! Thanks to all of those who bled and those who came out and tried. You are all appreciated! Just because you didn’t make it to Northville, please go to a Red Cross location near you (www.givelife.org to find one) and use the code MotorCC

The Sweat

So you know, we will be working rain or shine on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of this week. As a special bonus, this Saturday, Daniel Ottney will be doing his Teleprospecting class again. Click HERE to read what people are saying about the last one. Way to go Daniel!!

The Gear

We are off to a great start on raising GEAR for Operation Kid Equip too. I am looking forward to the results.

The After Party

Next Monday, August 3rd, we are hosting a happy hour at Meriweathers in Southfield to celebrate our efforts in Blood, Sweat & Gear. If you gave BLOOD, SWEATed, ponied up some GEAR or volunteered at the booth at Buy Michigan Week, you are invited as our guest. If you didn’t do any of the above, but would like to come we ask for a simple donation of $20 that will go to the causes we are supporting. This will be a great time to connect and celebrate!

Twitter Class-

All the cool kids are doing it, but the ones who are doing it right are seeing significant results. If you don’t know what RT, DM or the @ symbol means, you NEED to be there. If you know those things but want to know how to follow the right people and more importantly have the right people follow you, it would be wise to join us today at 2:30 at Automation Alley. Details HERE

As always, do let us know what we can do for you.

How many people do the meetings have to be able to accomodate? We have access to a room that can handle up to about 45 people, in Troy.

Let's have a Chocolate Party/Demonstration at a hotel ballroom venue.  Visit my company's website www.homechocolateparty.com to choose from tasty options.  I would be open to partnering with a wine distributor or merchant, to host a Pairing Chocolate with Wine event.  Any banquet managers who would be open to lending space, please contact me.  Late September would be ideal for this type of event.

I would love to host and speak at a meeting!  We have a room here that holds about 70 people in Southfield at the Town Center buildling.  Late October would be ideal for me.

I'd be happy to speak at a meeting.

Good morning Terry,

I have an office in Southfield and Troy. My offices can accommodate about 25. Please let me know if these will work.
Please click on link to see location addresses as well as some pictures. www.intelligentoffice.com (locations)

Hi Beverly,

This is great!  We can definitely educate and entertain with wine and chocolate - you and I will definitely talk.  Perhaps we should set a number and limit attendance to a workable group, such as the first 50 or so to sign up.  If there is a great demand, we could repeat the sessions

I would love to speak at a meeting, and I have an office that will hold a good size as well in Bingham Farms.  However, I'm new to MCC so I'm still getting my feet wet.  I'd like to attend a few meetings first to see how they go and get a better feel of the process!

Thanks for your email blasts and creating this community!

The Farmington Community Library is centrally located on 12 Mile just west of Orchard Lake Road and has great meeting space for 20-75. Very reasonable room rental for non-profits ($10 to $20 per hour. More for businesses). A library-card-holding resident has to make the reservation, and I would be happy to do so. Just let me know the date and time.

Terry,

I have a great speech I have done for 2 toastmasters officer's training events with great reviews.  The first time it was a 45 minute workshop and the second time it was a 15 minute overview.  The topic is all about recruiting people by treating them like people, regardless of age or background.  What do you need to know to consider this topic for one of your events?

Great idea to get away from the restaurant thing.  Not only can it be expensive but a heavy burden on the waistline.

I would be happy to speak at a MCC meeting. I am a Certified Career Management Coach and a Certified Professional Resume Writer. I would be happy to speak on any subject you choose regarding job seekers and the job hunt. Since I live in Novi, I would like to speak around here, but I will travel to other locations.

I am a clinical therapist in private practice, and I would be delighted to speak at a meeting.  One very popular topic is stress management, or I can draft a lecture on another topic.

Also, I may have a great option for a venue in St. Clair Shores - they have rooms that can accommodate very small groups and also an elegant hall that seats about 400.

Hello all, with the stress level at an all time high, I would love to present on stress reduction utilizing hypnosis. I am an RN and a HypnoTherapist who specializes in hypnosis for health and wellbeing. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great day.
