Furniture Bank of SE Michigan needs your help!

I received a call from a friend of mine that alerted me that The Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan is in desperate need of the community's help. Currently, they have around 1700 needy families waiting for furniture or appliances and have been waiting, as long as seven months.

The types of items that they are in immediate need for, include:

• Sofas


• Dining Room/Kitchen tables


• Dining Chairs


• Dressers/chest of drawers


• Appliances not more than 15 years old (stoves, refrigerators, washer dryer)


• Mattress/Box Springs


• Cribs that meets current safely standards

As you may know, The Furniture Bank of Southeast Michigan has been serving low income families in Oakland County for the past 40 years and in Macomb County for the past 2 years. The furniture is donated by families in both counties. They have two trucks that pick up in both Macomb and Oakland County.  The clients are able to come into our warehouse and choose the furniture they have requested. They are also one of the few organizations that are willing to go into the donor's home to pick up the furniture.
