Global Invitational Coming to West Michigan on 6/27

Participants will compete for nearly $30,000 in prize money
Allendale, Mich. (May 12, 2009) - Water Skiing and Wakeboarding will unite, under a new professional tournament format, at the inaugural Global Invitational taking place at Placid Waters in Allendale, Mich. on Saturday, June 27, 2009.
Professional water skiers, jumpers from across the country, along with the best regional wake boarders will take to the water to qualify for a chance to win nearly $30,000 in prize money.
The first-year event happens at Placid Waters (www.placidwaters.com), Michigan's only site with three competition lakes lined up adjacent to one another. Each of the contestants that move on from the qualifying rounds will compete on the center "Global Championship" lake in front of the crowd as we narrow the field to the final round and crown the winners.
"We are extremely excited to bring the best of the best water skiers from around the world and wake boarders in the Midwest to West Michigan for the inaugural Global Invitational," said Mike Broadwell, Event Organizer. "Spectators will see the world's best participants of their sport and the non-stop action will certainly not disappoint. We hope to see great crowds to cheer these fantastic athletes on to victory."
Event goers will be also be able to demo new skis on Radar Lake, walk over to Global Championship Lake to see the pros, and head over to Ronix Lake to see how their friends are doing at the regional wakeboard competition.

"It's a festival event that everyone will want to see, and it's going to be great to see the best skiers like Will Asher who is currently ranked #1 in the world in Men's Slalom go up against guys like Chris Parrish the current world record holder right here in our back yard."
Tentative Event Schedule:
- All Day - Demo Rides all day on Radar Lake
- 8 a.m. -- Gates open & qualifying starts for all three events -
Qualifying Slalom and Jump will be run on Global Championship Lake
Wakeboard on Ronix Lake
- 3 p.m. -- Final rounds begin on Global Championship Lake
- 4:30 p.m. -- Mens Slalom Head to Head
- 6:30 p.m. - Wakeboard Final
- 7:15 p.m. -- Jump Finals
