Drive donations to your nonprofit organization
One creative way to drive donations to your nonprofit is to have supporters donate their unused Membership Rewards points earned from their American Express cards. The program is called GivingExpress and it is free except for a nominal processing fee, like most credit cards. Points equate to 1% cash back to the nonprofit organization! So, for every 1,000 points donated, the nonprofit receives $10. I met a business owner last week that had 1,000,000 unused MR points!! That is a potential of $10,000!
I pasted the following information about Giving Express from the website, Giving Express

GivingExpress Online is powered by GuideStar, a searchable database of more than 1,000,000 nonprofit organizations in the U.S. If you are recognized as an IRS 501c(3) charity you should already be listed in the database. If you need to register with GuideStar, or would like to update your current GuideStar listing, please visit their web site at http://www.guidestar.org/using/nonprofits.jsp.
In 2007, the average donation made through the American Express Donation Site was almost $366.
With your GivingExpress account, you can download web graphics, links and support copy that will allow your site to promote GivingExpress Online to your donors.
With a few clicks of the mouse, your donors can:
• Donate dollars
• Donate Membership Rewards points
• Set up recurring donations
• Receive an automatic receipt for tax purposes
• Track all of their donations
By accepting the American Express Card you can help improve operational efficiencies and increase realization rates by reducing unfulfilled pledges.
A 2.25% transaction fee is deducted from donations to cover processing costs. This expense is similar to the cost your organization would incur for processing direct credit card donations.
GivingExpress Online offers online reporting, making it easy to analyze donations made to your organization.
Additionally, nonprofits can utilize the American Express Corporate Card internally and donate their Membership Rewards points back to their organization for a 1% cash return. Send me a PM if you would like more information on this.

Hello Fellow MCC Members.....here in the southeast Michigan area the Society of St. Vincent DePaul is constanly seeking donations, and I don't mean just dollars. We operate ten thrift stores throughout southeast Michigan and those proceeds go towards funding St. Vincent DePaul programs right here in SE Michigan. Programs such as our Community Food Depot, educational and instructional programs and our summer camp for kids along Lake Huron. We are in constant need of gently used clothing, furniture and appliances. Free pickup is available by calling 1-877-STVINCE. Secondly, we can always use your donated time as a volunteer. Helping us to operate our stores, greet customers, fill racks and assist collecting goods in the donation centers. I can assure you it is time well spent. You'll actually see how we help the needy of Detroit! If you have the time, send me an email (lgriffin@svdpdet.org) and I'd be glad to get with you and tell you more about the great work the Society is doing and how you could help. And by the way, have you ever thought of a career with the Society? Speaking from experience, after suffering through two downsizings in the last six years with Fortune 500 companies I have finally found a stable home, and career with the Society of St. Vincent DePaul.
