Have you checked out millennialmayors.org? If you're a millennial interested in affecting change in local politics, you need to take a look.
Grown out of a desire to engage metro Detroit's future leaders and enhance cooperation among the current ones, this initiative is being fueled by a broad network of people who are ready to do something--rather than wait for it to be done.
They are people who work in cities, nonprofits, businesses, universities and communities; people who live, work, study and play all across the region. Among them: 25 visionary mayors, hundreds of young people and countless regional stakeholders.

Hi, I'm Sharon Carney. I'm working on creating the Millennial Mayors Congress, and I have some news!
On June 6, more than 20 cities from across metro Detroit will launch a regional partnership to engage the next generation of leaders-the Millennial Mayors Congress. Each participating community will send a two-person delegation to serve on the Congress: its mayor and a young leader. Together they will work to address challenges impeding regional prosperity.
The cities of Farmington Hills, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Lincoln Park, Pleasant Ridge and Wayne are now accepting applications. If you are 18-35 years old, a resident of one of these communities and interested in taking a leadership role in the transformation of metro Detroit, download the application at www.millennialmayorscongress.org.
Applications are due on March 29.
Let me know if you have any questions.
