The things you should know blasts

In an effort to get more people using the site, we need to take the mystery out of using it. Over the next few weeks we will be sending blasts that talk about different best practices for using the Motor City Connect site. This one will talk about the Search feature and provide a schedule of upcoming events. Don't be surprised when you get a few extra e-mails from us over the next month.

You want to find the right people? Use Search correctly.

If you look in the top (not tip top, but top) right hand side of most any page, there are two boxes: one in which you can type and the other is a drop down menu. The drop down menu allows you to choose if you want to search "everything", "discussions" or the file cabinet. When in doubt, go with everything.

Then all you need to do is determine your search criteria and type it in. Want to know how many members list "Troy" in their profile? The answer is significant. Try typing Troy in and find out for yourself. Realize that this number can represent people who live or work in Troy or belong to the Troy Chamber of Commerce. It's a big number. You can also search by title, industry, name or location. This will help you find who you seek.

Lots of new events in February

We launched the Downtown Detroit meeting with 13 people on 2/4/09 at the Penobscot. It was a good meeting and I am looking forward to the next one on 3/4/09.

We had 32 people "take over" Black Finn this past Wednesday after moving one of our two Royal Oak locations. We will still meet at BDs on the forth Tuesday of the month.

Our Troy breakfast moved to the second Thursday of the month and members had rave reviews.

Plymouth/Canton will be back on 2/25 and Warren will have it's second meeting on 2/26. Yes, lots of changes indeed.
