Social Media Networking is Growing my name... my Business!
Social Media Networking is Growing my Business!
I never would have thought that social media would have worked for the line of work that I am in... ever!
I used it in the past rarely to connect with friends who moved away after college and family in Florida and it has turned into a monster referral source for me and my company - Facebook mostly.
Now, I have to tell you that I am a Title Insurance company so we never market to the end consumer but the key has been that I market myself as a Realtor in the area and or a Mortgage Expert so people come to me with questions or want me to list their home or refinance their mortgage.
It has worked wonders in referring business to my clients and potential clients in whom I get the title business from and build relationships with my clients that I otherwise never could have. Imagine your title company calling you from time to time with slamdunk referrals! Priceless... literally!
I highly recommend joining Facebook, creating groups on their in your field as I have (be my friend lol). I also recommend joining local sites (like for me) http://www.motorcityconnect.com or creating your own website as I have http://www.keithstonehouse.com by Henry Joshua of http://www.dot-sign.com (who has done a lot of my Realtor clients site for them) and http://www.michigiganrealtormasterminds.collectivex.com The SEO has gotten me more calls than I ever would have imagined on all topics from land contracts, quit claim deeds, providing title for sellers/buyers, searches, questions, etc... actually marketing to the end consumer without realizing it.
In 2007 I referred out nearly 20 referrals and 13 of them closed from Social Media Marketing / Networking. In 2008 I referred out nearly twice as much and I am looking to do even more in 2009 as I build Broker Opens with Clients and First Time Home Buyer Seminars... oh wait, did I mention that I am a Title Insurance Company?
There is a light at the end of the tunnel in Real Estate marketing in these trying times and it's on the web if done correctly!
Thanks,

I believe it Keith. I see your name everywhere! No doubt it my mind that it has helped you.
You are branding and networking. You can't under estimate the fact that you go out there and network as well. So you are putting the social media into action. So that helps and it is better to have an actual Face to Face relationship with the people you met online.

This is crazy Keith. Last night on the way home from a wine tasting at Filipo Mark (awesome time) I started writing a piece about the relevance on social networking that I was going to share here when I got home. You beat me to it! I just wanted to start a conversation so here's my $.02:Where do you network online?
With all of this talk about online networking, i think it would be cool to understand where everyone is playing.
Me? I am on about 27 sites, but you can find me most readily at twitter, facebook, linkedin and of course mcc. I also spend some time on peoplemovers.com, plaxo and detroitcity.com. Theres a bunch of other cool sites out there, share the love and let us know where you spend your time.
So you know I have both wasted time AND gotten benefit (read: sales, connections, knowledge, opportunities and entertainment) out of networking online. How about you?
Be connected-
Terry
I LOVE Twitter. I just asked a question and then I wound up talking to the Director of Communications at GM. I am looking for old time photography and the Blogger from GM answered my question. I am going to meet with him today. So that is so exciting, plus I have gotten some cool links from my fellow passionate hockey fans, so Twitter s a great place.
Facebook I have gotten a job interview when she isn't sick with the pox anymore. So that is good! Plus, through facebook I got my internship a friend of mine from high school (she is in PR, Media Relations, and everything for Wayne State Alumni) she talked to her friend from LLS, and then when I changed my status on my FB page that is how the word got around that I was looking.
I am a firm believer that if you use Social Media for the right reasons you can connect on a greater level. You have to also put in the time to connect with people offline because just connecting online is not enough. So go the extra mile, see what happens for your business, it is just a different way to open the same door.
It's true...Keith is not stretching the truth. Being involved in networking that also carries over to online brings opportunities to you! Don't join in to get something, it is a natural result of it.
