The Power of a Thank You Note
Good letter writing is a lost art in our society today. With the onslaught of electronic mail, voice mail, and faxes, good letter writing has gone the way of the dinosaurs. And yet, a well-written, personalized Thank You note can do wonders for your business relationships

I received 3 hand written hallmark moment Thank you's in 2009! That is more than I ever received in 2008. I was touched that instead of shooting an

e-mail that  some good people took the time to sit, write, stuff, stamp and mail!

I bought some new thank you notes but I have yet to send them. I am so bad. I need to do that more.  You are right I think I still have the Thank you from Preston True when he gave his speech for the Shrine Career Network.

Isn't that a great feeling.  That is why I chose to make sending a personal note a habit of mine.  And besides it gives me a warm feeling inside just to send it.

I send Thank Notes all the time. I use them to keep in touch with prospects and clients.  I find it makes me slow down and really write a personal note to that person.  I use a online service to do this. Check it out (see link below).  It's quite fun. I also noticed I save time (no running to wal greens because I ran out of cards) and money (hallmark cards run $3-5 each) but not sacrifice the quality and personal nature of the note.

Enjoy!

Hey Tenicia, Barb Duran here.   We met a few years ago and talked about SOC but I knew you were signing up with someone else.  How's it going for you??

I just got promoted to Mgr with SOC and I'm loving it!!!

Just wanted to let you know, you have to take the ".com" off the end of your url after your ID #, otherwise it doesn't take them to your website, all you get is an error msg.

Hope to see you soon!!

Barb

Study after study show Thank You notes are very underrated. Employers are more apt to hire a candidate when the appreciative card arrives unexpectedly in their in-box. A prospect is more likely to buy when they receive acknowledgement their appointment time was appreciated.

I choose to send actual paper cards filled out by hand. The impact is the thought - not the expense so feel good about sending those inexpensive cards you buy in boxes of 10.

I have a goal of sending at least 10 handwritten notes every day I work.  By sending the hand written notes you also give that person something that can not be taken back - your time.  It is a precious gift.

Greg, This sounds like a great motivator for you. If your goal is to send 10 thank you notes you cannot hit your goal unless you find 10 people to thank. This would mean you need to work out a schedule through which you can come in contact with enough people to allow the 10 cards. No wonder you are so good at networking and in the real estate business.

Mary,

Great point!

I send out a hand written thank you card after every meeting everyday... well worth the time and the effort. When I get one through the mail I actually keep it as it shows me something about the person who sent it and I hope that my efforts prove to be the same.
