We, at www.BuyMichiganNow.com, are working on our suggestions for great Michigan-made gifts, and I'd love to have some helpful hints. If you make a product or have a favorite we should know about, please let me know. We are looking gifts ideal for kids or adults, men or women, old or young, republican or democrat, yada yada. No product is too big or too small, so long as it comes from the Great Lake State. So, what are your favs?

A great gift for someone who is looking for a good book to read is "Me, Myself and Why, The Secrets to Navigating Change." The author, Lisa Mininni, is a member of MCC and based in Canton, Mich. The book provides a roadmap for navigating change and some tangible tools on how to produce positive results. Lisa kept everything local. She had it published, edited, typeset, and printed in Michigan by McNaughton & Gunn. You can find more about the book by visiting www.memyselfandwhy.com.
There is a shop in Downtown Plymouth as well that focuses all on Michigan Made EVERYTHING! - Check it out sometime - Great place
Another book that just went into print is by Ann Arbor Author, Dr. Robert Pasick. "Balanced Leadership in Unbalanced Times". Just the advise needed for the times we are currently in.
Available at bookstores and at Amazon.Com

A artist friend of mine, April McCrumb, owns Catching Fireflies in Berkley and Rochester that features her line of products called AI Paper Design. Another artist friend sells lovely hand-made soaps and candles (among other products) through her business called Vintage Urban Girl.
Coventry Creations has been making candles in Ferndale for years. Another long time ferndale business Garden Fresh Salsa makes the best salsa on the planet...if you ask me!
I friend owns the Easy Green Shop www.easygreenshop.com in Dearborn. They provide all ecofriendly products. This is really hot trend.
Check them out.
Another great Michigan Winery is Pentamere Winery in Techumseh, MI. They make their wines from "vines and orchards of the Great Lakes area". And great wine at that.
A regular end goal for a pleasant afternoon drive for my husband and me too.
Is it a sales pitch if I give the web page?

PURE Bars is a Holland, Michigan-based company and they are wonderful! They're organic, raw, and taste fantastic! www.purebar.com
Speaking of Pure, Pure Detroit stores carry a wide range of products made in and around Detroit, including Faygo Red Pop!
Great tip about Pure Bars, Julie, thanks. For those that are interested though, their website is www.thepurebar.com (Discovered the other one is a tech company)
How about a breakfast in bed themed gift. Chelsea Milling Company has been making Jiffy mixes here in Michigan for about 80 years. My personal favorite is using their raspberry muffin mix to make pancakes! They have so many good choices and you could throw in some Michigan made syrup and jelly to top it off! Also, they make a great brownie mix, you have to give them a try and support a family owned and operated business that's been here for years!

Trilium is a Northern Michigan produced white table wine that is inexpensive, well packaged and very pleasant on the palate. I have not known anyone to not enjoy it.
Don't forget Pinconning is The Cheese Capitol of Michigan.
I make a regular stop at "Williams Cheese".

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I was at the Vermontville Maple Syrup Festival a the last full weekend in April (it's the same every year). It is the oldest festival of it's type on Michigan and the best, although I am a bit biased since it is my hometown!
A great gift of maple syrup is an excellent treat and the one sweetener native to North America (sorry honey fans, you were imported from Europe). Find a local farmer here and make the trek, you won't regret it!
