I need MI-made gift suggestions

We, at www.BuyMichiganNow.com, are working on our suggestions for great Michigan-made gifts, and I'd love to have some helpful hints.  If you make a product or have a favorite we should know about, please let me know.  We are looking gifts ideal for kids or adults, men or women, old or young, republican or democrat, yada yada.  No product is too big or too small, so long as it comes from the Great Lake State.  So, what are your favs?

I designed and started making Pet Air Beds with fashionable slip covers about a year ago in response to needs I had for my senior beagle, "Gertie." All materials used for Gertie Gear products are purchased from domestic suppliers and crafted in Michigan.

Check out the website and Etsy store: www.gertiegear.com

Another favorite?... Gayles Chocolates is always a winner and located in Royal Oak: www.gayleschocolates.com

We have friends who used to make all the uniforms for Big Boy Restaurants years ago.   Now they are making nize cozy dog beds and sell most of them to the pet stores. They are located in Sterling Hts.  I will tell them about the other pet products mentioned here and perhaps they could be helpful to each other.  So if you want to share the comfy love with your pooch call John Lingo--313-885-7860.

I think services are a great gift like a package of:

  • Yoga followed by a massage

  • Massage and lunch

  • Manicure and lunch

  • A self help  workshop to improve yourself in 2009

  • An oil change

  • Cleaning someone's house or hiring a cleaning lady

There are endless creative ways to give services and help support Michigan people.:)

Cherry Republic!  Great stuff!

Garden Fresh Gourmet salsa and chips!

My wife and I own a Michigan winery. We make the wine at our location and sell retail to the public. We can custom label the wines for your event, occasion, and we have no minimum to order on full sized bottles. If you want orders in split sized bottles we ask for a minimum order of 1 case. We will bottle to the order. Turnaround time is as quick as while you wait but if you can give us 24 hrs. that would be a bonus for both of us.

Call in an order, e-mail, fax or just come in.

New to the network thanks to Charlie's presentation yesterday so I still need to get a picture uploaded.

Lake St. Clair is one of the best muskie fishing lakes in the world and it is right in our backyard.  Taking clients out to hook into a 40-50 inch fish has certainly been a great experience for some of my guests.  Mike Pittiglio from Muskie Mania is one of the best.  He does all the work and is great with clients.

Good morning Lisa, This is Gerard from Filipo Marc Winery and I just joined MCC.

Thanks for the testimonial. Business is always based on experience and thanks for sharing yours.

Next time you come in, lets talk about you and your services.

It is a fishing charter leaving from the 16 mile & Jefferson area.

Very good! I might even give that as a gift to my husband... he loves to fish! Do they have a website?

The website is www.muskiemaniacharters.com

OK, this SORT of counts as a "gift"....:-)...

The so-called 'yooper scooper', made by Silver Bear Manufacturing in Atlantic Mine, MI (http://www.silverbear.biz/index.html), is THE best snow removal tool I've EVER used!!

It's relatively inexpensive ($60-$80 depending on the source).  You NEVER lift it like you do a snow shovel.  It moves MASSIVE amounts of snow VERY quickly.  It's VERY well made.  Simple, but effective!

I first ran into these when I was searching for an alternative to a snow blower.  I hated the idea of spending several hundred dollars for a machine that sits idle for 4-6 months of the year and can only BE used for snow removal.

Watch the videos Silver Bear has on their website (listed above), and you'll be amazed.  I was amazed the first time I used mine!  I have a relatively large parking area/long driveway, and even with heavy snow, I can clear them out in less than an hour.

Hey Dan,

I have a different brand, but those 'yooper scooper' shovels are the greatest! Got one for my mom for Christmas (she won't use a snow blower). No lifting -- just glides like a sleigh.
