Make yourself "The Source" not "The Salesman"
In this media ran market of Real Estate (or really anything or any field for that matter nowadays) and uneducated consumers eating it all up as they see and hear - Now is the time to make yourself "The Source" in your industry!
Not selling, not marketing how great you and your company are... but the source - Here to answer your questions and guide you in the right direction in Real Estate and or Financing.
I am a Title Insurance company and I am getting a TON of Real Estate and Financing questions everyday from everyone I meet and I fwd it all to my clients! This is a great tool for me for my clients (Realtors and Mortgage Loan Officers) but I can only imagine what a Loan Officer or Real Estate Agent / Broker must be fielding daily! To sell yourself just short changes you and your services right now in this confused time in real estate and financing!
The clients I see that are doing well - Have made themselves "The Source" in their field!
Thanks, Keith Stonehouse

This is great advice Keith.
Another form of "source" that you have become is the media source. When they have questions, I know they often seek you out as the local expert.
Couple that with being the goto guy for prospects and connections with questions, it's no wonder everyone in the R.E biz knows you.
Solid.
Right on, Keith!
A few years ago, I coined a phrase for a client who's business is networking training. The point is to become a "human search engine" - the one everyone else turns to when they need the name of a trusted professional, the best store for a particular item, or who to call when your sink backs up.
Here in MCC-land, Keith, Terry and Charlie have become the masters!
What I have been doing is this. Even though I am looking for full time work and there is other people that I know that are looking for work as well. Not all of them are as networked as I am. I have joined the Shrine Network, here, I am very active on Linked In, and I am on Twitter so I tend to gain some advice that some other people may not have when they are looking for a career.
So I have been emailing the links to these sites to the people that I know of and maybe they will help them out in the future. I even did so to the person that I did an Informational Interview with at Eprize. Turns out he got let go and though I do not know how far up the food chain that my Resume went. I figure helping him out would save him some time and maybe he will keep me in mind in the future.
Plus, whenever I hear that someone is laid off I try and send them links to something that may help them. Even if it may be off base to what they are doing now, it could help them later.
I have to agree with you Keith, especially after reading Jeffrey Gitomer's Little Black Book of Connections. His entire book was about deriving success from being the source. There are some great strategies in the book from generating your own e-zine to becoming known as an excellent speaker.
Even things like starting good threads help. Nice work!
I could no agree more...
Matter of fact, I blogged on this this morning !
