Many people are finding what they seek through MCC
Are you one of them?
Our members have found new clients, partners, jobs and even friends. Have you?
I can assure you that the individuals that have found what they sought all have one thing in common: They participate! Are you participating? We have lots of ways to do so:
There are over 10 lunches a month you can attend. We have opened our first breakfast. I think we should be planning a MCC hayride/cidermill trip (I just made that up, anyone care to second it?) We have beat down blight in Detroit and soon we will be donating blood, bucks and blankets in support of our annual Red, Green and Warmth campaign. We have played together and listened to great presenters like John Assaraf, Josh Linkner and Tom Wilson.
Those are all real world things. Think about, or even better, look at all of the great discussions that you can join from the comfort of your own computer. The opportunities for you to give AND gain are endless here on MCC.
I am very interested in seeing at least 20 people post an answer to "What we can do to make today better for you?" (follow the link below this e-mail to join the discussion). Do it. Do it now. Is there a client you want to meet? Tell us. The more information, the better. Perhaps it's a business partner or a new job you seek. Be specific and let us know how we can help you.
My ask is simple today: I want you tell your friends and colleagues in Lansing about our expansion. We have opened Capital City Connect! Please forward them this link: http://lansing.collectivex.com/main/summary
Join us. Believe me when I tell you that MCC is a great place for you to find yourself. Because it's a great place to find what you seek.
Thank you for being here.
Terry

Today - I would love to have a positive and optimistic attitude surround my mortgage brokering business. I am inundated 'constantly' with negative articles, water-cooler talk, clients stressing out and family members 'checking in to make sure I'm OK'.
Just for today - when speaking with someone in the real estate field - BE POSITIVE. we have enough stress going on every minute of the work day that it would be nice if conversation steered towards our positive efforts to stay in the business, market ourselves and continue to do the best job we can in an ever-challenging marketplace.
Just for today.....let optimism rule the day!

Candace, great points. I love positivity. Let's let it flow through us all today.
If you want an extra shot of it, call the Real Estate Optimist, Keith Stonehouse!
I must agree with Candace. It's about time the public stops "enjoying" bad news. Yes, it makes for quick discussion material around the office and the neighborhood. However, a constant focus on the negative will drag you and your business down. I try to remember that while ten percent of the world has much that is negative, there still is a ninety-percent world out there that is doing just fine. Today, remember the $4.50 you paid for gas a few months ago as you drive by the gas station. I just paid a bit over $3.00! Not enough to rejoice the entire day but work harder to remember its much better to be happy than sad. Life is too short to be sad my dad always said. I can hear his voice like it was yesterday- and to my amazement, that was 47 years ago when he said it to me. I can remember because he started out the statement with "Son, you are only 8 years old". Imagine, as I do often, that simple observation took him through 92 years and has stuck in my head for another 47! He was right!
Terry Bean reminds us that there is strength in community, and Candace that attitude means everything. We "know" on some level that when her business thrives she can help my business and your business too, and those ripples will spread. I'd like to see our community of 1800+ members put that idea into action - and much faster.
Can we overwhelm Candace with new customers, referrals and leads? Help her find so much business she needs to hire? Can we show the joy and community of MCC also generate results? I heard somewhere recently Michigan's future is: "Our State, Our Challenge." We know how to do that....
These are all great points. These times are opportunities for us. Opportunities to help people find solutions. These are times for us to be creative and positive. I choose to be POSITIVE EVERYDAY!!
We need our members to share their success stories with us and what is happening that is positive.
This week I was able to help a phone vendor sell a phone system and a furniture vendor sell furniture. I was able to help a company move to a new location. Yes there are many positive things happening in Detroit! Yes, realtors are selling homes and sales people are selling products and services everyday right here in the Detroit Market!
What is your positive story for this week?
Kent makes a powerful statement -- how, at any age, we can be strongly impacted and remember someone's words and/or actions...forever. Let us all make an effort to be that positive, powerful influence to those around us.
Candace, I wonder if you can start a support group for mortage/real estate professionals?! As odd as this may sound, it can result in strong support and positive ideas. It also can position you in a leadership role. Feel free to contact me, as I've done a bit of this.
Terry, I love the idea of a hayride/cider mill trip -- count me in! I had been a much more active participant in MCC and then a combination of a busy business and my parents' health challenges took me a bit out of the loop. Yet, MCC and the great people I've met through the years have been in my spirit!
For me, I think what I would appreciate is meeting business owners in one of those industrial parks, a bit hidden away. They may not come to networking functions and their shingles may not be found on the main streets of town. Yet, I want to reach them, and help grow their business. Thank you anyone for introducing/referring your colleague, client or friend.
I think you are on the right track!
I'd love to have us all see a controversial movie or a movie with substance, then talk about it afterwards at a coffee house. We could also have a short speaker, then discuss what the speaker said afterwards. I'd like to get to know people better and their needs. We ALL know a lot of people and can really help one another if we understand each other better!
Today would be better if I was able to have a warm conversartion with someone who could benefit from my services.
My decision makers are truly the owners and senior management of a company. I can't work with the front line solders, such as account managers and day to day operations people. So, the ability to get warm introductions to the owners and C-level people is crucial to my success.
I have encouraged all I come in contact with to join up here, and am seeing some of them join. I encourage you to encourage those leaders and owners you know to do so.
One of the challenges of some who are networking is that it is being done by people who are still looking only for the direct sale. They sure would appreciate it if you could direct buy their services, but have no power to move you though their organization or seem willing to open up their personal networks.
I recently referred a service provider and a fellow MCC member to a RP&P client of mine, and the revenue should prosper her, plus a long term mutually supportative relationship between the two firms going forward - that's what this is about.
A different MCC member approached me and knew about my organzation - she said her hands were tied, since her company's decision making is all based out of St. Louis, but she sure would appreciate me transfering all my business to her. Another MCC member wondered out loud to me at Tom Wilson why we don't incent each other with referral fees. I'm just reporting this ... no judgements here.
I could close with a number of thoughts on the flow of the universe, but the key one is this: you give, you get and the universe does take notice.
TOPIC: "What we can do to make today better for you."
I would love leads to businesses that gift their clients or employees. I will introduce them to my "gift service". I will take the worry out of shopping, wrapping and delivery!

Dean,
I would love to pay people for referrals they pass my way. My challenge is people are skeptical and too busy to sit down and hear my compelling story. I am in the process of paying another business owner $2500.00 for a referral he sent my way. Yes I said $2500.00.
I helped him sell his equipment to a customer, which he made a profit on. I helped the customer pay for the equipment so their lease payment was cut in half, and the equipment vendor will receive $2500.00 for making the introduction.
What are your thoughts???
HI Kimberly,
Have you seen Peaceful Warrior? By Dan Millman? Excellent movie with substance. The books are also great.
At our community in Brighton we had movie nights and discussions afterward. It is an awesome way to get the conversations going.
Do you have one to recommend?
HI Terry,
Thank you for being here. You've got an awesome energy that seems to be rolling through MCC and all the members. Excellent resource!
Small world story...this summer I was on an internet skype call with a group of Toastmasters. This was a first of trying something new through technology. It was midnight here, noon in China, and on that call was Danling Zhu, who was in China at the time. Turns out that I walked into MCC Novi on Tuesday and met Danling (Danielle) for the first time in person. We'd been on the same call, but hadn't connected in person until just last week.
How cool is that?
To refer someone soley for the fee turns someone in to a broker, which is a fine relationship ... the organization I work for is a brokerage in many ways. I'm talking about the person who thinks that if he gives you a name and contact info, you should pay him for it. If you want to openly develop a broker or sub broker program, that's different ... and could help move your business forward in the directions you seek.
Yes Sandra, and I LOVED that movie! Have you seen Conversations with God or The Secret? I LOVE inspiring movies like that. Brighton is a bit far for us though. Thanks for sharing that!!!
What do you do for a living?
Kimberly
Hi Sandra,
Have you seen Facing the Giants. Wonderful with substance!!!
The messages this movie gives are powerful!! I recommend it highly.
FYI: The plot follows a classic underdog story about American football with an evangelical Christian world view.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
